We Believe In...
1. God the Father
He is Creator and Ruler of the universe and is infinite, eternal, and unchangeable in being, wisdom, power, holiness, justice, goodness, and truth. The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are the one triune God, the Holy Trinity, and are the same in substance, equal in power and glory; although distinguished by their personal properties.
2. The Son, Jesus Christ
Jesus is the Son of God, the second Person of the Trinity, fully human and fully divine. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born to the virgin, Mary. His sacrifice through death on the cross, atoned for the sins of humankind, and His resurrection demonstrates His power over both death and sin. He will return to earth to reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
3. The Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is the third Person of the Trinity and is the presence of God in the world and in the believer. When a person accepts Christ as Lord and Savior, the Holy Spirit comes into his/her heart bringing at least one spiritual gift and helping the believer to live a godly life.
4. The Bible as the Authoritative Word of God
The Bible is the inspired, inerrant Word of God, empowered by the Holy Spirit and written by human authors. It is the authoritative source for faith and practice for all people.
5. The Sinful Condition of Humankind
Sin means to miss the mark. It is any action or thought that is not pleasing to God. Sin first came into the world when Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit. Sin separated us from God, while the death of Jesus on the cross opened the door for us to be reunited with Him again.
6. Salvation Through Christ Alone
Salvation is God’s free gift to us but we must accept it. It cannot be earned nor is it deserved. Only by trusting Jesus Christ, the one who sacrificed Himself for the forgiveness of our sins can we be saved. Eternal life begins the moment we receive Jesus Christ into our life by faith.
7. Eternal Security
Because God gives us eternal life through Jesus Christ, the true believer is secure in that salvation for eternity. If you have been genuinely saved, you can’t lose it. Salvation is maintained by the grace and power of God, not by self-effort.
8. Godly Standards for Leaders
God calls both men and women to ordained leadership in the church. Leaders are to lead a life in obedience to God’s Word, repenting of any self-acknowledged practices that Scripture calls sin, including sexual sin. Leaders are to live in fidelity within the covenant of marriage between a man and woman, or in chastity in singleness.
